The "Light Down" for Anything

Pure Architecture: Three Layers. Zero Plastics.

Synthetics are hidden at every stage of traditional down jackets – from complex laminated nylon downproof bags to toxic glues, heat sealing, and synthetic sewing threads.

For decades, the outdoor industry forced you to choose between two flawed options:

Synthetic fill (polyester) — It stays warm when damp and dries fast. But it needs tight shell fabrics that trap sweat once you start moving, so you overheat and turn clammy. Every wash releases microplastic into waterways.

Traditional goose down — It is incredibly warm, but the moment it gets wet, the feathers collapse and lose all their heat-trapping ability (if your down sleeping bag gets wet, you freeze).

The Swisswool® Light Jacket takes the exact opposite stance.

We built a fully functional insulation piece using exactly three layers of natural fibers, sewn together with pure cotton thread.

Face Fabric, The Core, Inner Lining 03 02 01
01 — Face Fabric

100% organic cotton. A rare, high-density 105g/m² ripstop fabric that is robust, windproof, and highly protective.

02 — The Core

100% Swiss alpaca insulation. Gently washed, brushed, and compressed into a flat, highly efficient padding.

03 — Inner Lining

100% ultralight cotton, calendered (pressed under heated rollers) to keep the wool insulation perfectly in place.

The Dog, The Mattress Factory, and the Birth of Swisswool®

The First Wool-Padded Ski Jacket

2008

In 2008, Mover founder and passionate freerider Nicolas Rochat was out in the snow with his dog, Ferox. After running hard and getting soaked, Ferox happily settled down right next to the hot chalet fire, completely comfortable and unfazed. It sparked a simple realization: nature has already perfected insulation.

The Sweat Problem

The hardest challenge was the padding itself. The industry standards – PrimaLoft, Thermolite, Thinsulate – are 100% polyester. They are light and cost-effective, but they are overefficient. They trap heat so aggressively that skiers overheat under their shells, and condensation builds up. In the mountains, sweat is your real enemy. We suspected wool could actively thermo-regulate instead of just overheating, but an airy, non-woven wool fleece for clothing simply didn’t exist.

From Mattressesto the Mountains

The only place making anything remotely close was a family mattress factory in Dinkelsbühl, Germany. We teamed up with Friedrich Baur of Baur Vliesstoffe (the founder of the Swisswool® initiative) and spent a year prototyping. Our very first sample was so thick and rigid you couldn't even bend your arms.

But we persisted. The result, launched in 2010, was the world's first all-wool technical insulation – which we later perfected exclusively using 100% Swiss alpaca.

Adapted to the mountains, alpaca is naturally warmer and lighter than standard Merino. Sourced directly from local farmers, our exclusive Swisswool® alpaca insulation gives worth back to a premium natural resource while providing you with the ultimate plastic-free warmth.

The Performance of Swiss Alpaca

Why Alpaca Beats Synthetic Down

Adapted to the harsh, mountainous climate of the Andes and raised in the Swiss Alps, alpaca fiber is naturally warmer, softer and lighter than standard Merino wool. This makes it the ultimate engine for managing your body heat during both high-intensity climbs and freezing descents.

Active Thermoregulation

Wool naturally consists of 85% air, making it an incredible insulator. It adapts to your body temperature, keeping you warm in the freezing cold and cooling you down when you sweat.

Warm Even When Wet

Unlike traditional down, Swisswool® can absorb up to 33% of its dry weight in moisture without ever feeling wet to the touch or losing its insulating properties.

Naturally Odor-Resistant

Wear it day after day on the mountain. Wool’s natural structure prevents the buildup of odor-causing bacteria.

100% Biodegradable

Pure, natural performance that safely returns to the earth at the end of its lifecycle.

Smart, Freeride-Tested Details

Designed by skiers, for skiers. We placed the phone pocket on the side, closer to your armpits, using your body heat to protect your battery life from the cold. Two large inner pockets are perfectly sized to store your ski skins, keeping them warm and preventing them from freezing.
