Fuelling The Movement
Throughout our journey against the plastic tide, emotions have been our companions. Wonder at the perfect fabric. Satisfaction in building decisive partnerships. Hope that each garment might plant a seed of change. Being on the frontline sharpens our senses to both the breakthroughs and the frustrations. We've felt the helplessness of watching decision-makers cling to false solutions. And at times, like a message in a bottle cast into the ocean. A big mission for a small receptacle, lonely in the immensity. But whatever is thrown into the sea is bound to reach land.
This year, our bottle washed up on the shores of PlasticFree Land. A place where Siân Sutherland and Frede Magnussen flip the script upside down. Where instead of the usual what-ifs and reheated self-satisfied empty talks, they chose materiality. "Look there, touch this, feel that" was their invitation. And indeed it felt good to follow their command, from the crazy moulded-fibre bottles of our neighbours at NBCo, to the monomaterial yet multi-textural pipette packaging at SHELLWORKS. We’ve also reunited with our friends at BANANATEX, who are putting Switzerland on the map of innovative and truly circular textiles. Among our discoveries were sneakers from PURIFIED FOOTWEAR, designed to decompose and feed the soil. And there were also colours that can only be found on a scarab or a hummingbird, plastic-free pigments and dyes from SPARXELL, obtained by redirecting the crystals in cellulose. All genuinely plastic-free and clever. All scalable.

The room was eclectic, but it felt like sitting at a dinner table with something close to family. New people and brands taking root in the same spot. Answering the call to co-create with nature. Proving that it is not a dream but a very real and much-needed plan of action to catalyse energy and shake the ground below. Turning our plastic-free islands into continents.
Making plastic-free sportswear is nurturing a favourable soil where our sense of wonder keeps growing. Nothing can fire us up like witnessing the technical prowess we achieve when working together with nature. If we are bound to feel things, then let us stick with thrill. We cannot wait to create what’s next. So we do it now.
PS: Siân has got a message for you, are you curious to know?
