Swisswool® Light: Down for anything

Swisswool® Light: Down for anything

Synthetics are prevalent at every stage of the production of traditional down jackets. First in the fabrics are layers of materials ranging from a single nylon sheet to a complex mix of laminated and/or coated fabrics. Then in the assembly, in the gluing, the heat sealing, and even in the sewing thread. The Swisswool® Light Jacket takes the opposite stance, with three layers of natural fibres sewn together with cotton seams and …nothing else.

  • Inner lining: 100% ultralight cotton. The fabric has been calendered (i.e. pressed under heated rollers) to keep the insulation inside.

  • Swisswool® Insulation: 100% Swiss alpaca. A Mover exclusive developed with the Swiss wool specialist. After being washed and brushed, the fibres are gently compressed into a flat padding.

  • Face fabric: 100% organic cotton. This rare high-density ripstop fabric is windproof and robust. An ideal finish for a very lightweight and protective jacket.

Level up on breathability

  • Fast transfer of sweat: during high-intensity exercise, you'll feel the sweat being wicked away from your armpits. It's as simple as that: lightweight fabrics and the properties of natural fibres allow for rapid transfer of moisture through the layers. As dodgy as it sounds, it's great news. No need to worry about ventilation, because the fabric of the jacket itself is actively working to keep you dry.

  • The Swisswool® Jacket is not a raincoat, but if you get caught in the rain, two things will happen:

    • Firstly, while the water will wet the shell fabric, it will have difficulty penetrating the alpaca wool insulation. So, unless you're exposed to a prolonged downpour, you won't feel wet.

    • If you think cotton can't do the job, this jacket will prove you wrong. The face fabric is a technical weave of 105g/m2. Give it 30 minutes, and it will dry out completely.

Harnessing body heat

  • Alpaca is no accidental choice for insulation. Adapted to the mountainous climate of the Andes, it is warmer and lighter than merino wool. This makes it ideal for managing body heat during periods of high activity and rest.

  • The mobile phone pocket is on the side of the jacket. Out of the wind and closer to your armpits where it is warmer. Your phone (and battery life) is well protected from the cold.

  • Our founder's tip: the two large inner pockets are perfect for storing your ski skins, keeping them close to your body and preventing them from freezing.

How to use the Swisswool® Light all year round

  • Winter: An everyday, everywhere piece. If you are ski touring or climbing, keep it in your pack until descend. Wear it with just a Merino Zipneck underneath for efficient minimalism, or with a Merino T-shirt and Fleece Jacket. It's also the perfect down for a cold northern city, layered under a Ventile Blouson or an old leather jacket.

  • Spring: When above 10°C, wear the Swisswool® Jacket with a Cotton T-shirt underneath. If you're exercising at altitude, use the Fleece Vest and the Light Merino T-Shirt for high intensity and add the Swisswool® for low-intensity phases.

  • Summer: Keep it in your wardrobe for when the cold comes back. The Swisswool® Jacket resists compression and will quickly regain its volume.

  • Autumn: Pair it with a Light Merino Crewneck or the Techfleece Hoodie, both of which are equally at home outdoors or in the city.

Bonus: The colour Illuminating Yellow is not just words, it literally improves visibility during an evening ride or run. Tested and approved.
