How We Built the First Fully Protective Jacket Without Plastic

The Ventile® Shell+ is the culmination of 10 years of experience embedding natural fabrics into sportswear. Now, it marks a real leap forward for plastic-free sportswear. Protection, What Do You Mean?

Weather Protection

We've developed a windbreaker, a windproof Swisswool® down jacket, and a rainproof Ventile® blouson—while using the natural properties of merino wool to make our mid-layers exceptionally resistant to moisture penetration. The next step was to combine all these qualities into a single garment. 

As with our other jackets, the Ventile® Shell+  is made from technical cotton. Densely woven, the fabric is tight enough to keep water droplets on the surface without absorbing them. Conversely, the water vapor exhaled by the body during exertion escapes more efficiently than through a synthetic membrane. Bonus point: it’s all-natural. We have also avoided stitching and piercing the fabric on the shoulders to prevent water infiltration. The large flap further enhances weatherproofing by shielding the cotton zipper from rain.

Adjustable Protection

What else? The cord stoppers on the hood and the adjustable straps on the sleeve hems let you customize the jacket’s fit and protection level. We've opted for a roomy, looser cut to enhance mobility and accommodate layering.

In short, the hood ticks all the boxes thanks to three key features:

• Cord Stopper Placement: Positioned under the chin rather than on the sides, they tighten around the lower face, preventing cold air from seeping around the neck.
• Hood Shape: Designed with a small cap to protect the forehead while ensuring unobstructed vision and unrestricted neck movement.
• Flap Height: A large flap covers the lower face, providing extra protection where it's needed most in cold conditions.

Health Protection

We can’t talk about protection without highlighting the jacket's biggest innovation: a non-toxic design. Finding a lightweight, protective shell is one thing—finding one that doesn't release harmful chemicals throughout its lifecycle is another.

Traditional high-performance shells rely on PFAs, chemicals identified as carcinogens. The Shell+ proves that you don’t have to sacrifice health for comfort—quite the opposite.

And because details matter in Mover pieces, we’ve embedded protection even in the smallest places. Our signature phone pocket is strategically placed as far from your heart and genitals as possible, while still being easily accessible. Just in case.
